MONT BLANC QUARTZITE

Anyone who admires the beauty of the nuances of the green tones of The DaVinci Quartzite does not imagine that its history began in such a distant past, more than 3 billion years ago. From the moment the rocks are formed they are already exposed to the weather of the environment, such as the waters and the wind, even worth the first rocks formed on the planet Earth.

For 1 billion years, these primordial rocks were eroded, and their grains loaded to new locations, being deposited, and giving rise to new rocks, this time sedimentary. During this period, in what would be the north of Bahia in the future, a rift type sedimentary basin was forming, where the earth’s crust splits in half and begins to separate forming two new continents. This rift formed between the land was parted and flooded which begins to behave like a shallow sea, receiving and accumulating sediments from rivers that begin to dewater there.

During the following years, several other geological events metamorphized th e rocks and modified the characteristics of that place, lifting and exposing them. Pre existing minerals are altered and oxidized, generating secondary minerals such as Fuchsite, which contribute to grant Da Vinci the different greenish tones we find today.
