Travel to Bahia, around 1.4 billion years ago: we are in an ancient natural atmosphere, full of stories, that printed their marks on the quartzite Perla Grey. It’s of unique colors provided by the presence of dumortierite and muscovite, this quartzite captures the essence of remote and extraordinary landscapes that today surface in the Espinhaço Mountain Range. 

Ancestral Bahia was an arid and desert scenario that witnessed impressive cyclic geological processes capable of removing, transporting and accumulating quartz grains in large volumes in nature.

Thousands of years later, the climate change of the time conditioned the increase in the global level of water, giving rise to previously non-existent seas that began to shape the sand deposits that were there. The movement of the waves shaped the soft and continuous layers that were internalized in the sandstone formed there.

Closing a natural cycle, the pressure and temperature conditions generated in the process of metamorphism extinguished the seas of that period, transforming the sandstone into the Perla Grey quartzite.

Perla Grey quartzite has a wide spectrum of applications due to its low absorption and quartz-rich composition, which confers high hardness.

The technological characterization corresponds to a set of tests that determine the properties of rocks in laboratory environment. They are fundamental to establish the technological parameters of the materials to indicate their application possibilities for different projects.

To maintain the liveliness and conservation of your natural stone it is necessary that some care be taken periodically to provide a useful life to its coating.

We recommend the following basic care:

P E R I O D I C APPLICATION OF IMPREGNATING SEALERS

Once every 12 months.

DAILY CLEANING

Only neutral or specific detergents for natural rocks. Akemi's Basic Cleaner and Bellinzoni's Lem 3 are recommended.

ACCIDENTAL CONTACT WITH STAINING SUBSTANCES

Never leave staining substances for long periods on the surface of the stone. Absorb immediately with paper towels and clean the area with water and neutral detergent.
