Approximately 1.4 billion years ago, a semi-arid climate prevailed there, with landscapes full of dunes, lakes and rivers that went towards the sea. The action of the winds and waters shaped the dunes and carried the sands – composed of milky quartz grains – into the lakes. These were gradually buried, altering their shape over time. 

Geological events of great magnitude, over millions of years, modified the arrangement of the minerals of these rocks in a process called metamorphism. This event also caused hot silica-enriched fluids to percolate, which crystallized into magnificent quartz veins that today cross the rock in different directions, creating unique designs.

The technological characterization corresponds to a set of tests that determine the properties of rocks in a laboratory environment. They are fundamental to establish the technological parameters of the materials to indicate their application possibilities for different projects.

Mont Blanc quartzite is a 100% natural rock. Its properties reflect the conditions of the formation environment of millions of years ago. A successful specification depends on the knowledge of these properties combined with the performance that the application environment will require.

PERIODIC APPLICATION OF IMPREGNATING SEALERS

Once every 12 months for areas of sporadic use. Once every 6 months for areas of heavy use.

DAILY CLEANING

Only neutral or specific detergents for natural rocks. Akemi's Basic Cleaner and Bellinzoni's Lem 3 are recommended.

ACCIDENTAL CONTACT WITH STAINING SUBSTANCES

Never leave staining substances for long periods on the surface of the stone. Absorb immediately with paper towels and clean the area with water and neutral detergent.
